At JF Hummer Pickups, our goal is to create pickups that inspire those who play them. Every pickup is created to be bright, clear, articulate, and dynamic. This makes our pickups versatile and satisfying to play.
To achieve this, you have to start with quality parts. Below is a frequency chart of the resonant peak on our “Carbon Humbucker”. In the chart directly below, you will see the difference between using a raw nickel cover and a cheaper brass cover. As you can see, the brass cover removes a lot of high end and lowers the overall output compared to a quality nickel cover.
The next chart is a comparison between a brass baseplate and a nickel baseplate. The difference isn’t as drastic as the covers, but still noticeable to any serious guitarist.
Pickups are a personal preference, but I think most players would agree that dark and muddy pickups aren’t their preference. That’s why we never compromise on components, and aim to give our pickups to clearest, most open tone we can acheive.
